First stage of
China-Vietnam boundary finished

Australia News) - China and Vietnam have completed the first stage of
marking their land border after a four month minesweeping operation.
Beijing's official China News Service says a Sino Vietnamese survey team has
fixed 10 new boundary marker stones and created a five kilometre-long boundary
line.
The two communist countries fought a brief but bloody war along their common
border in 1979 after a Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia.
The surveying of the boundary and erection of the stone markers meant clearing
land mines from an estimated million square kilometres to allow surveyers in. Back
